I am homeschooling mom of 7 girls.
Yes, all girls so far.
Yes, so far. We will have as many children as God gives us; we’re reasonably confident (tongue in cheek) that God knows better than we just how many children we ought to have.
No, we are neither Mormon nor Roman Catholic.
Our home is not particularly large. Some might consider it particularly small, given the current American sentiment that every child needs and deserves a private room, television, and chauffeur. Our home has 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, and just under 1200 sq. ft.
This is the home we built ourselves. Please notice I said, “built,” not “hired a contractor to build.” This is an important distinction to my husband. This is an important distinction to me. Try to imagine doing it both ways, and I think you’ll understand.
Now imagine building your own house with 7 young children and a wife helping, eating, sleeping (where?!), schooling…and further imagine that you are busy building your house and working a full-time day job with a 52 mile commute each way. Meet my husband. For that matter, read his blog.

August 31, 2005Psa 127:3 Lo, children are a heritage of Jehovah; And the fruit of the womb is his reward.
Psa 127:4 As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, So are the children of youth.
Psa 127:5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: They shall not be put to shame, When they speak with their enemies in the gate.
the view from outside
August 31, 2005There was an old woman who lived in a shoe;
She had so many children, she didn’t know what to do.
She gave them some broth
Without any bread,
Then whipped them all soundly
And sent them to bed.
